Bud Flood - April 8th 2008

As you can see by the pictures, many of Bud Hill's fairways, tee boxes and baskets are now under the Mississippi River!

Hopefully the water will go down soon, so that play can resume at world famous Bud Hill !

Bud Hill Flip Up Doubles
every Sunday around 1:00 p.m.  This is just a reminder that every Sunday around 1:00 p.m. there is a large gathering of disc golfers that play at one of the best and most pretty courses in the United States....Bud Hill. Everyone is welcome at this time. This is a great time to meet Memphis Disc Golfers and play in a laid back tournament. This is a great time to practiceand get your feet wet when thinking about moving up to play sanctioned and very fun Southern National and PDGA Tournaments! Feel free to play on your own at this time as well. Thanks to Barbara and Danny for creating this great course!

Where: Shelby Farms Disc Golf Course

Duration: March 15 – October 4

Cost: $5.00 weekly

Format: Singles Handicap

Last day to join: June 21

The Format:  Singles handicap allows people of all skill levels to compete on a level playing field.  A handicap will be used to adjust each score at the end of the round.  This adjusted score will determine the order of finish.  Handicaps are based on sliding scale of 80.4%-90% of the difference between players' average raw scores from the last 3-rounds and the official par on the courses played.  Since disc golf courses don't have standardized pars, we use an arbitrary reference number to calculate handicaps.  In the case of our summer leagues, the reference number will be 50.  All handicap records will be kept up by league officials and posted weekly.

The Payout:  $4 of every entry will be used to pay out the top 1/3 of adjusted scores each week.  Each player’s top 12 adjusted scores will determine the final league standings.  The additional $1 from each week’s entry will be used to payout the top 1/3 of final league standings.  An ace pot will be available each week for an additional $1.

Note: Membership in Memphis Disc Golf is required.  Membership is $20 and can be purchased on-site
